DayZ Standalone HEROs – Training Day Just Got Real – YouTube

We were recording a training day for our community where we were going over tactics and performing several tactical drills when suddenly we were interrupted. During the training session, most of our group was using empty magazines and using dry fire clicks to simulate gun battles.

At 15:00 into the video, we are debriefing the training scenario and setting up for a new scenario when we are interrupted by a KOS bandit. I am impressed how quickly we reacted given the circumstances!

[HERO*][19 Dec][EST @ 20:30][Training][Pulkovo]

Since we have quite a few new people with different levels of experience I thought I would run some basic squad tactics training to get us all on the same page. I’ll go over some basics like squad member responsibilities, moving tactically, and assaulting and defending fixed positions. A lot of it will be me talking but I’ll try to come up with some drills so we can put our skills to work.

We’ll conduct the training at Pulkovo on a low pop 1st person public server. Pulkovo is a small town southeast of Green Mountain where we hopefully won’t be bothered.

Now taking donations for a HERO server!

Our community has grown enough that we can probably sustain a server again!

Ideally, as we grow large enough, we will have multiple servers and maybe even our own private hive.  However, being that we need to be able to assist the general public, our first returning server will be a 3rd Person Public server.

This will allow us to host our base and be prepared to handle any requests for help and run missions on the most populated part of DayZ, 3rd Person.

Once we have 3 months of reserve funds in our pool, I will start up the server again with Vilayer.  You can see how much we have in our fundraising pool on the right hand side of the web page, also you can click on the donation link to add to our funds.

3 HERO Positions Available!

I briefly mentioned this on Mumble that I would like to open up a HERO position, but looking over all of the membership, I decided I would like to open up 3 HERO positions.

Please let me know publicly or privately if you would like to be considered for HERO*.  If you are selected, you will be trained in how to do this stuff.

HERO duties:

  • Set an example for the community
  • Admin/Moderate the website, Mumble, and game server when available
  • Talk to new community members in unregistered and recruit them
  • Make sure that current community members are conforming to our rules and philosophy
  • Maintain 10 hrs / 2 weeks of participation in the HERO community
  • Be one of the first to lead the squad should a squad leader be incapacitated, according to LMAR.

HEROs WILL NOT be selected based on seniority or time spent in the organization but rather the ability to admin, moderate, and lead this community in its intended direction.  We will be watching for potential HEROs to fill these 3 positions.

Field Manual and Map updates

Field Manual now has the following highlighted changes:

  • Basic Combat Training is now in the field manual for a standardized HERO weapons training using the DayZ game engine
  • Basic Combat Training is now required to hold a squad position
  • Improved the standard recommended equipment for each position
  • HERO Politics is now called HERO Chain of Command with appropriate hierarchy of field promotion to squad leader when the leader becomes incapacitated

Our custom map has been moved to the main menu, Map link.  You must be logged in and have permission to view the map, otherwise you will only see the iZurvive map.

So, I stumbled across this website that the DayZ developers are using to show what they are currently working on.  Worth a browse from time to time if you are into the development cycle progress and want to see what is coming up!

3PP Hive, since 1PP has been pretty dead.

We’ll grow some food at base, then head to Cherno and patrol the coast.  If we have enough ropes and burlap, I would like to do some dead drop food stashes along the way if we don’t run into anyone in a town.
