ParticipantApparently they had to reset persistence again so my tent I had is gone. Thankfully there wasn’t anything very important in there. I would suggest not placing any tents until they get some of these issues worked out. Maybe not until .56.

ParticipantTents are disappearing after restarts. I placed another today but I’m not sure if it has been fixed or not.

ParticipantA few more notes to share from the most recent exp push today.
I did find both the bear trap and land mine. I wasn’t able to get the bear trap to hurt a zombie but will try it again. I only managed to hurt myself with it while activating it. The land mine has a neat three second count down timer. I didn’t find a truck to test out what happens if you drive over them. Running over the land mines didn’t appear to have any effect.
I am finding if you allow the zombie to hit you 4-5 times it seems to ruin your hat/upper clothing and all the contents. Will really need to consider what you put in there if you choose to try and take a zombie out.

ParticipantHi William,
Welcome to the group. You can change you name on the main DayZ screen. Just select your name at the bottom right of the screen and type in whatever you want your name to be.
I have the same struggles as you due to my work/life demands. Keep an eye on the meetups or jump on mumble when you can.
Looking forward to seeing you out there!

ParticipantGood to know they are, probably, friendly. Nice job.

ParticipantMaybe we combine that. On the iZurvive map, the HEROs can write down their name and then blood type?
Harbinger
ParticipantI like this idea. Next time I get on, I’ll be on the look-out for test kits.
If we are in a bind, would it make sense as well to record all of our blood types some place as well so we know who can accept a transfusion from who if there isn’t any O- blood available? Just a thought.

ParticipantI like the Guardian Angel idea. Maybe a bit of a twist on the farming missions we do sometimes. If we only had snipers it would have to be in one of the larger cities.
The walking patrols make me very uneasy. Walking through large city like that is just asking to get shot. Though the initial reaction from other players may be, “WTF are these guys doing?”. The only way it might work is if we all have cowboy hats and somebody is playing the theme song from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

ParticipantIf we are running low on any military gear or just need to stock up, we could do a military area loot run. We could hit the following locations in order then store any extras in the tents afterwards:
Pavlovo Military Base
Zelenogorsk Barracks
Myshkino Military tents
Vybor Military Base
NWAFI left off Balota as it isn’t very likely you’ll find much of value here now considering the current spawn points and the popularity of the new prison island.
Along the way we could check for possible crash sites. If at any point we cannot carry any more gear, we can call it.
It would be ideal to have a recon team, an assist team and a team specifically to loot. The loot team can assist as needed of course. Specific priorities would be decided prior to the mission.

ParticipantApparently they bumped it down to 10. Still though, that is pretty sweet.

ParticipantI’ll go first. I never managed to meet up with anybody. I first spawned in Kamy in the middle of a loopspolsion. I was all set within a few buildings. I ran up the coast near Berezino when the server first restarted. I must have joined back too quickly as a was a fresh spawn again near Cherno. I logged out right away but came back and was there in Cherno. I justified starting over again as we had really just started and I didn’t technically die.
Any way, before we started, I had no idea where this town was and did not look it up at all. I was assuming that all towns had road signs near them so I could find it pretty easily. After finding nothing but a box of cereal in Cherno, I made my way north. I went right by Novy Sober and thought I was on the right track. Obviously I messed up though because I found myself at the NEAF a little bit later.
I knew the town was in the north so I found the main highway up north and followed that to the quarry outside of Severograd. I then went around to the North and went to the towns in the extreme north of the map. I hit, what I found out later was Stary Yar and found no road signs. I then moved south and I was actually just outside of Ratnoe when I didn’t see a sign there either. I turned around and headed west and realizing none of the new towns seemed to have any road signs. It was about 2am at that point and I was frustrated so I logged out in Vavilovo outside of NWAF.
Gray Fox hit him up Steam right after that and let me know where the town was. I promptly had a facepalm moment when I realized I was just outside of the town earlier in the night.
First thing the next day, I ran straight for the town and found all of the backpacks and notes in the road. I also quickly found the stash in the food house. After reading the note about Berezino, I made my there. I didn’t find the next note at all. At a bit of a loss on what to do, I headed south down the coast thinking maybe you all went on a patrol or something to look for other people. I made it down to Elekrto but didn’t find anybody.
I made my way back up to Rathoe and updated the note indicating I was heading up north. Made my home up in Stary Yar. It had plenty of houses and a bunch of wells so it worked out nice. I spent some time up there messing around with farming and some target practice. I then checked out the small military area to the east.
After getting bored, I ran back down to Ratnoe and saw the updated note to check under the stairs in Berezino. I went back, found the small stash there but forgot a pen to update that note. I tried the radio a few times but didn’t get any feedback. I logged out near Berezino.
Overall, even though I didn’t find anybody, I had a blast. It was an awesome feeling knowing I was all alone for a while and had no online map to look at to find my way. I never actually saw another person but there was always this tense feeling knowing that any mistake would be my last for the event. Looking forward to doing this again sometime.

ParticipantAgreed we should use armbands when on a mission and some sort of unique uniform. I don’t think we should get to strict about it though as I enjoy having a different look on occasion and wouldn’t want to restrict anybody’s preferences. It could be a hat or jacket or maybe one other item in addition to the armband that we try to standardize.
Harbinger
ParticipantShould we consider the use of a standard arm band for easy identification? Not sure about an entire uniform but being able to easily ID each other quickly in a large group would be helpful.

ParticipantHi Everybody,
I’m 32 and currently living in Ohio. I started out in PC gaming with games like Doom, X-Wing and a shareware copy of Descent. I’m currently looking a joysticks now that I saw Tie Fighter and X-wing come out on GOG.
DayZ is one of the best games I have played to date. A quick story to explain. The first time I shot at somebody unprovoked, I felt terrible. The same person was friendly to me earlier but I let the boredom of being a lone wolf get to me. I let them kill me after that because I felt like I deserved it. I felt guilty about that for days. It is amazing to me that a game can do that to somebody.
Any way, I read the oath is definitely the play style I’m looking for so I look forward to being able to play with the group.
