KeymasterI like that in the recent presentation, Brian Hicks said that their development release cycle went from “date based” to “feature based”. So they will hold onto a version until features are complete enough for stable.
We may get updates slower, but they should be more feature complete and the entire development cycle will speed up because it will be focused on features rather than getting a stable snapshot each month. We should also get a lot less game breaking updates like 0.57.

KeymasterHERO as an organization has been on hiatus with the recent patches.
There have been several people getting on and playing together though. I have been sitting by waiting for persistence to turn back on. DayZ is just “loot up and PvP” right now since we can’t collect gear long term and do our helpful missions and zombies are almost non-existent.
I have been re-doing parts of the website and will be looking to reboot and streamline the group soon, probably Beta release. We’re still around, just lurking.

KeymasterYep, I’ve been organizing and running events for years and know that people will come and go, groups will come and go, it’s a natural cycle if you have been in organizations long enough.
I just wanted everyone to be aware that the towel has NOT been thrown in with HERO, the grown is just stagnant.

Hopefully persistence will be back on the new system soon so we don’t have to keep picking stuff up. The bugginess is a major base killer right now.
HERO has probably lost 30 or so tents with gear over all the months since persistence started.

KeymasterIt’s hard to tell in the screenshots, but it’s so easy to look through grass and bushes now.
It’s like if you put your hand in front of your face and look past it, your fingers are in your field of view but your brain doesn’t pay attention to it because it’s focus is past the hand.

KeymasterDerrel, Missbehaving, and I logged in and decided we would head to Kamyshovo (the server meetup announced location) and see if we could find anyone.
We figured we would wait around for a while and see if anyone showed up and shoot the breeze, but almost immediately we had a survivor fresh spawn that we gave some food to. He headed out west towards Elektro and ran into a guy that gave him his .22 rifle and some gear.
The second .22 giving survivor came through, grabbed food and moved along. The original contact came back with the .22 and we found out he was 2 days new to the game.
I handed him a shovel, some seeds, and taught him how to farm after giving him some food.
I don’t remember the order of the rest of the contacts, but all-in-all, we helped 4 survivors, one of them was MrStyleS who stopped by to take a break from third person. He happened to spawn in Kamyshovo where our farm was setup.

KeymasterWent on patrol with JohnDoe, Missbehaving, woolyjumper, and myself. We moved through Solnichniy towards Kamyshovo. When we arrived at the Three Valleys spawn point, we met up with a fresh spawn that didn’t say a word and only nodded gestures at us. He didn’t type either.
He was given medical supplies for his bleeding and some food. We pointed him back in the direction of Solnichniy where we just recently cleared the town of zombies for him to loot and we pressed on towards Kamyshovo..
Harbinger and Supernoob joined in later in Elektro, where we found a tent and decided to put a dead drop of basic supplies in the middle of the road.

KeymasterI was manually “fixing” it each week, but now that I can’t, we will just need to test persistence each week to see if something small survives a reset before putting stuff down.
Kind of a pain but at least it will be on Vilayer’s radar now.

KeymasterI received this notice from Vilayer. I think now that persistence is forced on and I cannot manually fix it by uninstalling/reinstalling persistence, Vilayer is going to address the persistence corruption that happens every week where it stays turned off after maintenance.
Just to let you know that your server will be going offline shortly for some quick maintenance.

All persistence will be wiped to do this update to the server side.We also remind you have if your server is suspended after the update it is because your server has been flagged for breaking the hosting rules. The hosting rules can be found here – http://dayz.com/downloads/Server_Hosting_Rules_Public.pdf – please keep in mind that all hosts and servers are required to follow these rules, so if you are breaking any of them please correct your server asap.
