This promotional video will basically be a game/music video where the story tries to reflect the words of the song. I needed a place I could put down my ideas for the script and evolve it over time so I figured I would do it publicly on the forums.

I am planning on this video being as epic as I can make it! The completed video will be presented to Elizaveta as a follow-up thank you for letting us use her music.

[EDIT: This video has been completed and the following is the result.  Thank you everyone who helped make this possible!]

    Complete Script:
The story is told from the perspective of survivors of the zombie apocalypse. They are not heroes, but soon discover a heroic calling when a group of heroes shows up and saves the day. (Scenes containing heroes will be in slow motion for cinematic effect until the very end when our regular survivors join the heroes. Hopefully this will convey that from the outside, the heroic playstyle seems epic and awesome, but from within it seems heroes are just regular people with a mission to do good. The hero flashbacks will also be at normal speed since they will be told from the hero perspective.)

    [0:00]

    Instrumental introduction

(fade in from black, slow motion) Camera is at a distance, lone hero leader walks into town with sun behind, silhouetting his figure. Camera changes to closeup as hero nods towards camera

    [0:03]

    Instrumental introduction continues

(hard cut, normal speed) Zombie horde is chasing 2 fresh spawns in the middle of town

    [0:07]

    Instrumental introduction continues

(hard cut, normal speed) Clown masked bandit is chasing a person. The town can be seen in the distance

    [0:10…]

    Instrumental introduction continues

(slow motion) Hero leader joined by another hero that is walking into the scene from behind a building

    […0:13]

    Oh the hero comes
    I can hear the drums
    and our horses run
    to the kingdom come

(slow motion) Heroes ready their weapons, Leader points into town, then the two heroes begin to sprint

    [0:20…]

    through the pale moonlight

(hard cut, slow motion) Hero squad sitting around a fire, they look off camera and then stand at attention at the commotion in the distance

    […0:22…]

our hearts ignite to the call

(slow motion) Squad readies weapons and charges towards commotion

    […0:27]

    Oh, claim your prize
    for a crown of stars

(slow motion) Squad enters scene sprinting from behind a building and joins the other 2 heroes already sprinting into town

(This scene will be recorded in 2 parts due to the unpredictability of zombies, the audience should assume that the scene cuts are all one scene. PART 2 should be recorded first since PART 1 will continue into the next scene. Special attention should be made to the actor clothing and gear for continuity.)

    [0:30]

    in the name of love
    be the sacrifice

(PART 1, normal speed) One survivor is getting mauled by zombies. He was unable to make it into the building, the other survivor is safe in a building watching, horrified, from a window

    [0:34…]

you and I will stand and fight
    our backs to the wall.

(PART 2, slow motion) Hero squad has been cornered by zombies, their backs are up against a building

    […0:40]

    Oh, hero, hero

(PART 2, slow motion) Heroes fighting hard to get out of the corner

    [0:43…]

    Oh, hero, hero

(PART 1, slow motion) Heroes working hard to save the fresh spawn from zombies, killing as quickly and efficiently as they can

    […0:47…]

    Oh, hero, hero

(slow motion, fresh spawn may be punched out unconscious for the CPR action) Hero medic is performing CPR on the unconscious fresh spawn among dead zombie bodies and the friend overlooking from the window

    […0:50]

I want to be a hero

(slow motion) The downed survivor is back up and receiving medical attention as the medic applies a bandage, the rest of the squad is holding a close secure perimeter, one squad member points off camera.

    [0:54…]

    There is no escape
    let the fever rise

(normal speed, this shot will be pre-recorded from the introduction) Fresh spawn still being chased by clown masked bandit, approaching the town

    […0:58…]

    as our horses rage
    and our goal’s in sight;

(normal speed) Fresh spawn and bandit reach the group. Zombies, heroes, and fresh spawns are all around.

    […1:01…]

    maybe I’m the one-
I’m the one who will fall.

(normal speed) Bandit turns and kills (hero could be knocked unconscious for the shot) one of the heroes (slow motion death). Other hero weapons are already coming up and starting to aim.

    […1:07…]

    Oh, Lay me down

(slow motion, Bandit actor must die in this scene) Hero squad retaliates and quickly kills the bandit, all shots landing on target

    […1:09…]

    on a bed of stone
    I will wait for you
    as I rest my soul.

(slow motion) Dead hero on road surrounded by squadmates looking mournful. Zombie bodies and bandit litter the road. Fresh spawns are looking on also.

    […1:15…]

    I will watch you ride
When you reply to the call.

(slow motion) Heroes wave to survivors then walk towards the sun, heading out of town.  Camera cutaway to the heroes farther down the road and the fresh spawns walking towards the departing hero group, then stop as if they had unanswered questions. (This movement of actors should help bridge the continuity gap between the zombie and non-zombie scenes.)

    […1:22…]

    Oh, hero, hero

(normal speed) Close up of fresh spawn faces, mouths open, as they watch the heroes walk off

    […1:25…]

I want to be a hero

(slow motion) Far shot of the 3 fresh spawns from behind as they watch the heroes leave town in the distance

    […1:29]

    Hero, hero
I want to be a hero

(slow motion) Camera along side the hero squad as they leave town

    [1:35…]

    Oh, hero, hero
I want to be a hero

(normal speed) The 3 fresh spawns are seen communicating with each other, pondering something.

    […1:42…]

    Oh, hero, hero
I want to be a hero

(normal speed) One of the fresh spawns (bandit chased) looks scared, turns and walks away shaking his head “no”.

    […1:49…]

    Shut your eyes
    Shut your eyes

(normal speed) Two friend fresh spawns that survived the zombies are seen circling around and stopping the third bandit chased fresh spawn then trying to convince him of something.

    […1:53…]

    Don’t be scared
    shut your eyes

(normal speed) Close up of the third fresh spawn, he shakes his head “no”

    […1:56…]

    Watch those lights
    from the stars
    in your head, hypnotized

(normal speed, flash of white then black and white video) 3 fresh spawns flash back to the horrors they have survived with the help of heroes

    […2:10…]

Join our fight for what’s right
let your heart be your guide.

(slow motion, flash of white then black and white video) Flashback to heroes saving them

    […2:17…]

Ой герой, герой ты мой (Oh hero, you are my hero)
Да зовет герой меня в бой (Yes, calling me a hero in the fight)

(normal speed) The bandit chased fresh spawn shakes his head “yes” then all 3 fresh spawns nod “yes” then turn and run towards hero squad

    […2:30…]

Ой герой, ты герой ты мой (Oh hero, you are my hero)
ты возьми подругу с собой. (You take a friend with you.)

(normal speed) The three fresh spawns sprint hard and eventually catch up to the hero squad. (several shots of the fresh spawns sprinting trying to catch up)

(normal speed, flash of white then black and white video) The heroes flash back to stuff they have done in the past as a grim warning that the hero life isn’t easy, but it can be very rewarding. (Several clips from past combat and rescue missions.)

    […3:05…]

    Choral interlude continues

(slow motion) Eventually the leader nods “yes” and the fresh spawns are brought into the hero group.  The group gives them uniforms and weapons.

    […3:19…]

    I feel alive

(normal speed) The new hero members are excited to join the group, they nod fiercely at the coming tasks ahead of them.

    […3:24…]

(normal speed) The entire group turns with attention towards commotion in the distance.

    […3:32…]

It kind of gave me chills reading though the script while listing to the song. I guess that we’ll need zombies and maybe some “volunteers” to play bandits. Sounds like a challenge but a fun one.

The draft of the script is done. I am going to work on fleshing out the props and actors required for each scene.

I may could use some ideas for how to convey some scenes, such as conversation or emotes. I need to find an emote list for DayZ that shows which Function key is what.

    Alright, the script is complete!

Now we just have to wait for zombies to choose a  location.  I think I have split up the recording sessions enough so that different people can participate as actors without needing to be around the entire time.

Lots of video footage has been taking.  I will put together a teaser trailer and try to get at least 7 folks for the next filming session!

Hopefully we can get the last of the video recorded before the new renderer comes in and changes the entire look of the game.

I will put it on the new events calendar and send out invites to the final recording session once it’s planned.  We need bodies for this one!
