HERO*Medic (detailed)
Your primary objectives should be:
- Be prepared to veto the Leader
- Maintain awareness of squad member locations
- Maintain mental inventory of squad medical supplies
1. No HERO squad member wants to be left behind. The squad will also be better able to execute a mission by reviving unconscious squad members as quickly as possible. Remind squad members to shout, “MEDIC!”, when they need medical attention beyond self care. If the squad suffers a casualty that requires medical attention and the Leader fails to acknowledge the casualty, you will be responsible for speaking up and vetoing any orders issued by the Leader that do not correspond with assisting the fallen squad member. The Leader should be trained to accept the veto and set a new squad objective.
2. As the squad moves around, keep mental note of last reported position for squad members. You are responsible for the health of the squad and must be prepared to relay the last known squad member locations to the Leader should the squad need to assist a fallen squad member. Listen and try to memorize movement cues over HERO communication for the locations of squad members. Remind squad members to buddy up and communicate their locations when they are breaking formation. Communications will get spammy during high stress encounters, remind squad members to keep comms to tactical information only.
3. Before and after every encounter with survivors, verify that each squad member has a bare minimum supply of 2 bandages, 2 rations food, and 2 rations water. Medical supplies and preparations will become damaged or given away during the course of a mission and they will need to be redistributed. Even though you are responsible for the health of the squad, that doesn’t mean that all healing actions must be performed by you. If a victim is capable, hand them the supplies and have them perform the medical treatment themselves so that you can maintain situational awareness. Remind squad members that self care comes first. Squad members should address their own minor needs such as basic bleeding to minimize your risk trying to assist them during combat. You may utilize the Assist to collect additional supplies from others to aid a fallen squad member.
