HERO*Recon (detailed)
Your primary objectives should be:
- Maintain perimeter awareness for the mobile squad
- Locate and relay hostile target activity
- Maintain a “safe zone” for the squad
1. Maintain visual on the mobile squad and their perimeter at all times if possible. Line of sight will be broken often due to trees, buildings, and other obstructions. If the squad is moving towards a position where line of sight will be obscured for a significant amount of time, locate a new vantage point and move to it quickly. Don’t hesitate to inform the squad that you will need to relocate to see the general area. The Leader may want to hold the squad in position until you are in place with a better vantage point. You may utilize the Assist to aid in your movement and security as necessary.
2. The mobile squad may be pinned down by hostiles or making contact with survivors with no awareness of hostile targets. You will need to be able to quickly and accurately relay information about approaching targets to the squad. Be on the lookout for additional survivor behavior such as opening or closing doors. Watch for hostile sniper positions on rooftops, hills, and in windows. Should you decide to fire a shot, take your time and do not fire more than a single shot. Wait for a period of time before moving or shooting again to minimize your risk of being discovered.
3. Coordinate with the Leader before taking contact and designate a safe retreat zone for the mobile squad. This safe zone should be a location where you have visual on both sides to approaching targets. Examples include: your side of a building or fence, your side of a vehicle, or your side of any solid cover. When the Leader decides to move the mobile squad to the safe zone, the squad is likely in trouble and will need your assistance identifying and taking down hostile targets.
