The server that hosts our website, Mumble, and soon DayZ server is getting some upgrades in preparation for DayZ BETA and hopefully soon, server files getting released for private hosting of DayZ servers.

We have changed how the public is able to interact in our Mumble server.
The old muted jail, “Unregistered”, has been changed to “The Wasteland”. The Wasteland is an unmoderated (except extreme cases) Mumble channel where our server regulars can play and get to know each other. They can also interact with us from time to time if we decide to join The Wasteland.
Non-community members will still be stuck up in The Wasteland and will not be able to join any other Mumble channel. If you are a vetted community member, you may now choose to keep it quiet in The Courtyard or join the chaos of The Wasteland.
To help us facilitate interaction with the DayZ general public, I have setup Mumble to allow any community member to interact with folks in Unregistered. Continue reading

If you log into the website or Mumble and notice any changes that affect you, DON’T PANIC!
GOOD changes are in the works for our community! And with the recent 0.58 patch as well as the announcement from Brian Hicks about how patches will be rolled out from now on, we should have a much more stable game and can begin restructuring our foundations for a more stable community.
The Hostile Environment Relief Organization is getting revamped and if you have visited the website recently, you may have noticed a few changes. These changes are going to help us build upon our existing foundation for us to grow this community to our previous goal of 25 HEROs.
The changes will be discussed in detail at a community meeting hosted on Mumble. Questions will be answered after each topic for anyone that has questions.
Exciting stuff going forward for HERO! The vote has passed this week so I will change our advertising from “looking for members” to “need help surviving?” type posts. Other survivors that are looking to join our cause and provide a HERO type service should naturally find us through this advertising.
Please see the HERO Chat page for details on how this will work. Also please hang out in the HERO Chat while you are playing if you are interested in providing HERO services to the public!
If you are a HERO responding to help requests, you are running the mission and call the shots, not the person requesting help. I would recommend following the safety recommendations in this Field Manual update.
Murmur, the Mumble server, has been set to an increased voice quality from the default of 72 kbps to 128 kbps.
To increase output quality on your end, in Mumble go to Configure -> Audio Wizard and go to the last page in the wizard to set your quality to “High”.
We should all hear a noticeable difference from the bump in quality!
