The Roster has been pruned to reflect current active members.
Also, several members have had their squad positions removed due to the new requirements to hold squad positions. To help get our roster trained and able to hold squad positions, I have been in communication with other communities to perhaps run some training with them, more details to follow later.
I would like to kick off 2016 in an awesome way and have created a new mission type that will spread the word, grow our community, and help the public at the same time!
I’ve noticed we have tons of protector cases laying around our bases and now we have a use for them besides adding to base clutter.
During the month of January, I would like to see how many of these dead drops we can crank out as a community. We can keep track of this new mission type on HERO Legends by simply adding a screenshot of each dead drop you do!
Make sure that your dead drops meet the mission criteria before posting the screenshot. Happy New Year HEROs!
I think we all really enjoyed these tactics training and drills. I am going to be making them a required part of Basic Combat Training. Hopefully we have enough time dedicated to training or maybe some volunteers to run this type of training once every 3 months or maybe even once a month.
I have included the video in the field manual so that people can watch the lecture at their leisure, then be prepared for the drills when we run them.
The third video was interrupted by actual gunfire from a hostile force. I slowed down the video and I think I shot 17x .22 Sporter rounds in 3 seconds at our attacker. I was clicking like mad on that semi-auto fire. I was pretty pissed that someone would shoot at our squad like that.
I briefly mentioned this on Mumble that I would like to open up a HERO position, but looking over all of the membership, I decided I would like to open up 3 HERO positions.
Please let me know publicly or privately if you would like to be considered for HERO*. If you are selected, you will be trained in how to do this stuff.
HERO duties:
HEROs WILL NOT be selected based on seniority or time spent in the organization but rather the ability to admin, moderate, and lead this community in its intended direction. We will be watching for potential HEROs to fill these 3 positions.
Field Manual now has the following highlighted changes:
Our custom map has been moved to the main menu, Map link. You must be logged in and have permission to view the map, otherwise you will only see the iZurvive map.
To help us facilitate interaction with the DayZ general public, I have setup Mumble to allow any community member to interact with folks in Unregistered. Continue reading
Instead of having a single challenge for each squad position under Field Manual -> Squad Organization, I will add multiple challenges as I think of them, up to 3 challenges per position.
Only 1 challenge must be completed to qualify for a squad position, the new challenges offer the ability to earn the position while playing with a squad and not necessarily solo.
Welcome all of our new members! Our membership drive is going strong and we have lots of great folks who have joined our ranks this past month.
Right now our new folks are unranked GOOD*. Once zombies are back in the game, I will be looking at setting up some training missions to help some of them transition into squad positions by completing challenges. I also will be looking into inducting and training new HEROs soon.
Going forward, we will be working toward a distribution of about 5 GOOD* for every 1 HERO* on our roster. With our previously set goal of 25 HEROs, this means approximately 125 GOODs will be in our ranks for a total maximum population of 150 active members planned.
Our base location has moved and we now are back in business with a full sized operating base. We have also taken several measures to prevent our base from being discovered and if discovered from being completely stolen. At the worst case scenario, only some stuff will be stolen upon discovery, not all.
Please do not post the base location or strategy on our website, use Mumble or direct Steam messaging to communicate the base location to other members on our roster, thanks! There are folks out there with nothing better to do than search the internet for base locations and then server hop to find them.
New to the website is the ability for users to register using their Steam account. Steam does not give our website any information about your account that is not publicly available, it only sets up a login token so that our website can authenticate you with Steam if you want. This means if you forget your HERO website password you can still login with Steam.
If you are a current member that wishes to link you steam account, log out then click on “Connect with: Steam” in the login area. You will be directed to Steam login then back to the website where you can link the accounts.
This is the recording from our Community Meeting discussing the new changes to the Hostile Environment Relief Organization. Please forgive my Mumble settings, I keep cutting out at the end of my sentences.
You can direct any questions or concerns to the comments below or to me privately via Steam. Thanks!
