Free 1PP Base Starter Kits

Hello all and welcome!

Ever wanted to try first person only servers but didn’t feel like spending time to find base gear?

The Hostile Environment Relief Organization has been collecting base starter kits and will be handing them out free during a secured trade event.

Rules for Receiving a Base Starter Kit

  1. Join our Mumble server.  You must first download Mumble and have it installed.
  2. You will receive further instructions from our liaison for this event.
  3. Approach the trade area WITHOUT YOUR GUN IN HAND.
  4. If you have a weapon in your hand, YOU WILL BE ORDERED TO DISARM.
  5. If you AIM your weapon at any point, YOU WILL BE SHOT.
  6. Receive your starter kit and leave the area.
  7. Feel free to set it up on our server somewhere or log out and set it up later.
  8. WE WILL PROVIDE SECURITY, WE DO NOT NEED YOUR HELP.
  9. Unfortunately, your safety cannot be 100% guaranteed in DayZ, but we have preparations in place to help this go as smooth as possible.

Super Bambi Camp! Free loot for the general public!

Greetings to the DayZ General Public!

Are you a lone wolf that has never had time or energy to put together a vehicle?  How about wanting to try some of the exotic weapons you may have heard about but never were able to find on your own?

With the upcoming character wipe once 0.60 hits stable, our community has been planning and decided to move our entire base, fleet of vehicles, and all of our loot including weapons, armor, ammo, etc to a location we call “Bambi Camp” on our server.

South of Berezino, on the East coast, is a town called “Nizhnoye” which is where our Bambi Camp is located as pictured above.  Bambi Camp normally has food, water, and miscellaneous survival gear that our community keeps stocked for fresh spawns.

We invite you to come check out Bambi Camp and play around with what DayZ has to offer.  We took some pictures during our setup, but we are NOT putting up pictures of the final “Super Bambi Camp” or a list of what the camp contains.  We promise there is some good stuff in there when we set it up.  We cannot promise that the stuff will still be there by the time you get to it.

The Hostile Environment Relief Organization does not have the manpower or energy to police this event after spending most of today moving everything.  Come check it out and meet some folks!

Field Manual Update: New mission type – Care Package Dead Drops

I would like to kick off 2016 in an awesome way and have created a new mission type that will spread the word, grow our community, and help the public at the same time!

I’ve noticed we have tons of protector cases laying around our bases and now we have a use for them besides adding to base clutter.

Care Package Dead Drops

During the month of January, I would like to see how many of these dead drops we can crank out as a community.  We can keep track of this new mission type on HERO Legends by simply adding a screenshot of each dead drop you do!

Make sure that your dead drops meet the mission criteria before posting the screenshot.  Happy New Year HEROs!

Tactics Training and Drills 2015

I think we all really enjoyed these tactics training and drills.  I am going to be making them a required part of Basic Combat Training.  Hopefully we have enough time dedicated to training or maybe some volunteers to run this type of training once every 3 months or maybe even once a month.

I have included the video in the field manual so that people can watch the lecture at their leisure, then be prepared for the drills when we run them.

The third video was interrupted by actual gunfire from a hostile force.  I slowed down the video and I think I shot 17x .22 Sporter rounds in 3 seconds at our attacker.  I was clicking like mad on that semi-auto fire.  I was pretty pissed that someone would shoot at our squad like that.

DayZ Standalone HEROs – Training Day Just Got Real – YouTube

We were recording a training day for our community where we were going over tactics and performing several tactical drills when suddenly we were interrupted. During the training session, most of our group was using empty magazines and using dry fire clicks to simulate gun battles.

At 15:00 into the video, we are debriefing the training scenario and setting up for a new scenario when we are interrupted by a KOS bandit. I am impressed how quickly we reacted given the circumstances!

Base Raided by “The Bandit Clan”

Our base was raided and approximately 10 tents and 10 barrels were stolen along with all the gear contained within them.  We have since moved the base and have gear in a new location.  I will share the new location in Mumble with anyone that wasn’t there for the base recovery mission.

They were kind enough to leave a note at least, however they only identified themselves as “The Bandit Clan”.  I am looking into the identity of the thieves, mainly to find out how our base was comprimised.  We are fairly certain which clan this was, and I have confirmed IP addresses and physical locations of the perpetrators.  This information will not be shared and will only be used to link the perpetrators to their identity.  No retaliation will be done other than perhaps a counter base raid if we are able to discover where our gear went.

If our base was stumbled upon in-game, outside information will not be used for a counter base raid.  However, I have good reason to believe that our base was raided due to “meta-gaming” which is using out-of-game information and knowledge to gain an advantage in-game.  Basically, I believe that our base location was known before the clan entered the server.

Also a surprising find is that the yellow protector cases seemed to survive a reset.  These might fair well for stashing a small amount of gear.

HERO Community Meeting

Mumble, 05 September 2015 @ 18:00 Mountain, 20:00 Eastern.

If you log into the website or Mumble and notice any changes that affect you, DON’T PANIC!

GOOD changes are in the works for our community! And with the recent 0.58 patch as well as the announcement from Brian Hicks about how patches will be rolled out from now on, we should have a much more stable game and can begin restructuring our foundations for a more stable community.

The Hostile Environment Relief Organization is getting revamped and if you have visited the website recently, you may have noticed a few changes. These changes are going to help us build upon our existing foundation for us to grow this community to our previous goal of 25 HEROs.

The changes will be discussed in detail at a community meeting hosted on Mumble. Questions will be answered after each topic for anyone that has questions.
