Free 1PP Base Starter Kits

This event has ended.  Look forward to more events in the future!

Hello all and welcome!

Ever wanted to try first person only servers but didn’t feel like spending time to find base gear?

The Hostile Environment Relief Organization has been collecting base starter kits and will be handing them out free during a secured trade event.

Rules for Receiving a Base Starter Kit

  1. Join our Mumble server.  You must first download Mumble and have it installed.
  2. You will receive further instructions from our liaison for this event.
  3. Approach the trade area WITHOUT YOUR GUN IN HAND.
  4. If you have a weapon in your hand, YOU WILL BE ORDERED TO DISARM.
  5. If you AIM your weapon at any point, YOU WILL BE SHOT.
  6. Receive your starter kit and leave the area.
  7. Feel free to set it up on our server somewhere or log out and set it up later.
  8. WE WILL PROVIDE SECURITY, WE DO NOT NEED YOUR HELP.
  9. Unfortunately, your safety cannot be 100% guaranteed in DayZ, but we have preparations in place to help this go as smooth as possible.

Server issues lately are getting addressed

Hello all!

Fragnet has been quick to respond and wonderful in looking into our server downtime.  I figured I would post an official news update since it is being asked on the forums.

Here’s the scoop with our server:

  • 0.60 update caused a massive influx of server requests for DayZ servers to Fragnet (and I am assuming other hosts)
  • Fragnet setup new servers to address the load and a new admin platform at the same time to give us more control over the server and persistence restoration
  • Our server was moved to the new platform
  • For some reason our server is crashing and the new platform is not restarting the server like it should, it might be related to 0.60 server side updates
  • They are actively working to make it so the server restarts gracefully when it crashes instead of stopping

We can forcefully restart the server, but apparently the techs at our game server provider have more details available to them if we leave the server down so they can look into the cause and resolutions.  Fragnet requested that I leave the server down and put in a ticket so they can work on a permanent solution.  They usually respond within an hour, and sometimes minutes, of me putting in a support ticket (Vilayer used to be 48 hours).

Hopefully that helps everyone know what is going on, I have been on it as much as I could be while we had out of town visitors staying with us.  Feel free to respond to this news article with any updates!  Also let me know and I will keep on top of it!

Status Report – 02 Aug 2016 | DayZ | Official website

This week our Creative Director gives a status update on work being conducted on the CLE and the 0.61 milestone goals, while Lead Designer Peter and Lead Animator Viktor fill is in on subjects such as the server browser and work on animations. DayZ is a gritty, authentic, open-world survival horror hybrid-MMO game, in which players follow a single goal: to survive in the harsh post-apocalyptic landscape as long as they can. Players can live through powerful events and emotions arising from the ever-evolving emergent gameplay.

Map updated for 0.60

The HERO Map has been updated for 0.60.

For now, the only option we have available is the satellite map instead of the topographical map due to my inability to extract the topographical map.

I know the satellite map is a little difficult to see in some areas, it is just a limitation we will have to live with until a topographical map can be extracted.  I am able to provide very fine detail with the topographical map.

Mumble Updated, The Wasteland

We have changed how the public is able to interact in our Mumble server.

The old muted jail, “Unregistered”, has been changed to “The Wasteland”.  The Wasteland is an unmoderated (except extreme cases) Mumble channel where our server regulars can play and get to know each other.  They can also interact with us from time to time if we decide to join The Wasteland.

Non-community members will still be stuck up in The Wasteland and will not be able to join any other Mumble channel.  If you are a vetted community member, you may now choose to keep it quiet in The Courtyard or join the chaos of The Wasteland.

DayZ Standalone HEROs – Mute Cowards – YouTube

With the onset of the 0.60 patch, we have increasingly encountered more and more “mute cowards”. They refuse to talk and instead will instantly shoot because they are scared.

Even if you are going to shoot us, at least say “die!” or something. Hell, talk over our corpse if you can’t talk before you kill someone. Stop being cowards! I kind of miss the days when someone would lie to your face or distract you before shooting or scream something nonsensical before wasting you.
