Apparently, one of our squad mates decided he couldn’t take the zombie apocalypse anymore…

Field Manual updated – New Challenges
Instead of having a single challenge for each squad position under Field Manual -> Squad Organization, I will add multiple challenges as I think of them, up to 3 challenges per position.
Only 1 challenge must be completed to qualify for a squad position, the new challenges offer the ability to earn the position while playing with a squad and not necessarily solo.
Status Report – 12 Nov 2015 | DayZ | Official website
In this week’s Status Report, we’ll have info on subjects such as the renderer, the UI, damage, and animation systems, all served by our Lead Producer Brian Hicks, Lead Designer Peter Nespesny, and Lead Animator Viktor Kostik. DayZ is a gritty, authentic, open-world survival horror hybrid-MMO game, in which players follow a single goal: to survive in the harsh post-apocalyptic landscape as long as they can. Players can live through powerful events and emotions arising from the ever-evolving emergent gameplay.

Membership Drive, New Base, and Website Changes
Membership Drive
Welcome all of our new members! Our membership drive is going strong and we have lots of great folks who have joined our ranks this past month.
Right now our new folks are unranked GOOD*. Once zombies are back in the game, I will be looking at setting up some training missions to help some of them transition into squad positions by completing challenges. I also will be looking into inducting and training new HEROs soon.
Going forward, we will be working toward a distribution of about 5 GOOD* for every 1 HERO* on our roster. With our previously set goal of 25 HEROs, this means approximately 125 GOODs will be in our ranks for a total maximum population of 150 active members planned.
New Base
Our base location has moved and we now are back in business with a full sized operating base. We have also taken several measures to prevent our base from being discovered and if discovered from being completely stolen. At the worst case scenario, only some stuff will be stolen upon discovery, not all.
Please do not post the base location or strategy on our website, use Mumble or direct Steam messaging to communicate the base location to other members on our roster, thanks! There are folks out there with nothing better to do than search the internet for base locations and then server hop to find them.
Website Changes
New to the website is the ability for users to register using their Steam account. Steam does not give our website any information about your account that is not publicly available, it only sets up a login token so that our website can authenticate you with Steam if you want. This means if you forget your HERO website password you can still login with Steam.
If you are a current member that wishes to link you steam account, log out then click on “Connect with: Steam” in the login area. You will be directed to Steam login then back to the website where you can link the accounts.
Base Raided by “The Bandit Clan”
Our base was raided and approximately 10 tents and 10 barrels were stolen along with all the gear contained within them. We have since moved the base and have gear in a new location. I will share the new location in Mumble with anyone that wasn’t there for the base recovery mission.
They were kind enough to leave a note at least, however they only identified themselves as “The Bandit Clan”. I am looking into the identity of the thieves, mainly to find out how our base was comprimised. We are fairly certain which clan this was, and I have confirmed IP addresses and physical locations of the perpetrators. This information will not be shared and will only be used to link the perpetrators to their identity. No retaliation will be done other than perhaps a counter base raid if we are able to discover where our gear went.
If our base was stumbled upon in-game, outside information will not be used for a counter base raid. However, I have good reason to believe that our base was raided due to “meta-gaming” which is using out-of-game information and knowledge to gain an advantage in-game. Basically, I believe that our base location was known before the clan entered the server.
Also a surprising find is that the yellow protector cases seemed to survive a reset. These might fair well for stashing a small amount of gear.
Field Manual Update – Survivor Engagement
I have outlined recommended behavior and touched up on some areas under the Field Manual section: Survivor Engagement.
This should make it very clear about our rules of engagement and how we treat the general public. Please let me know if anything needs to be emphasized or reworded.
